It was a Tuesday, around nine in the morning, stinking hot as usual. Henry woke up reluctantly at the sounds of Madeline squealing at him.
Why the hell did he even let her sleep in here? He wondered like he did every morning. she always woke him begging for food. He never put her in the stables at night though, she just looked so small and vulnerable with all the giant dinosaurs around her. "Shhhuush" He tried, but the little protoceratops persisted until Henry couldn't ignore it anymore. It was time to start the day. But to do what?
Henry managed to get dressed eventually and made his way down the stairs, shooting a challenging glare at the hotel owner for no particular reason. "Good morning Mr. Barlow." the man said with a nervous stutter. "Fuckin' hot morning..." Henry replied, making it sound like it was the other mans fault. "I...I'm sorry si... I mean... that's true." he said, sounding horribly flustered. Henry almost started to laugh at him, he'd made the fellow apologize for the weather. Struggling to keep a straight face, he nodded and left the building without tormenting the man further.
He left Madeline at the stables to eat and leaned against one of the wooden struts out front the hotel to light up a cigarette. Fuck searching for mystical treasure today, he'd sooner catch on fire going out into the desert right now. What was he even doing here in Gwangi? He could so easily leave and find a more hospitable town to hang around in.
A familiar woman wandering down the busy thoroughfare made him remember why he didn't want to leave. "Good morning miss Aira." He called out before she was out of earshot in the crowd.

Aira was trotting down the streets on her way to nothing special yet since the day was still young - maybe a shower somewhere because of the severe temperatures. She was walking with raised arms cleaning her head feathers like some weird teo-headed raptor, and occationally sprouting wings when Roc - clinging to her shoulders as usual - decided to stretch his legs.
By the sound of her name Aira looked up searching for the source, and her face lit up like the sun when she saw who had called. "And a burning morning to you as welle" she said light-hearted and approached him, "big plans for today apart from combustinge?" She uttered a sassy laugh.

Plans for today? Of course any plans Henry may or may not have had would have involved drinking or petty theft of some kind, he didn't have any plans. "You know me Aira, I'm always busy.... gotta see a man about a job, help Mrs Lillain with her microraptor problem." he lied, Old Mrs Lillian had actually asked Henry for his help... but he had no intention of actually clearing out raptors from her attic. Nor did he intend on attending the job interview with the stable owner. basically, as with everything Henry said, it was to impress a woman, in this case Aira. "How about you? Where are you headed if I may ask?" He added, leaning carelessly against the strut and smoking. He kinda looked like he was posing for the cover of "Gwangis most badass outlaws" magazine, if that kinda thing existed.

Aira fiddled with her hair having a silly-sweet smile on her lips while Henry was bragging about his packed schedule, he always succeeded in mesmerizing her with that potent attitude of his - that was something she found attractive. Roc's tail was whipping behind her like a hyperactive pendulum.
"I am on my way to the river. Rumor says that a tribe has been spotted, and if it is mine I better look nice for their arrivale. It is also a good excuse to cool down in this oven, don't you thinke?" she tilted her head slightly like she usually did after asking a question.

At her words, Henry found himself fondly picturing Aira nude in a lake. But there was no polite excuse for following a woman to watch her bathe... Even if they had casually fucked in a cave. His cocky grin wavered a little in thought, when had Henry ever cared about politeness? This woman was practically throwing herself at him at every turn and he was thinking about manners? For all he knew she might have been trying to get him to follow.
"I think so miss Aira." he repeated in agreement, looking slightly distracted for a moment as he tried to shake the image of her perfect breasts from his head. "You'll be alright out by the river alone won't you? Are you taking Xon?" he asked casually, looking around for her big red beast.

Aira was just standing looking like an innocent sunbeam not knowing of all the sensual thoughts flashing through the man's head, sometimes she did snigger as if she actually knew, but that was of course not possible. "Xon is out hunting in the canyons, he doesn't like water when its not passing his throate", she said and shrugged, and then sent him a lifted eyebrow, "are you trying to become my bodyguarde?" she teased, "didn't you have many things to do?"

"Oh....Ah think I can spare a few hours..." Henry said a little too quickly, his expression changing to a sort of wolfish grin in an instant. "I mean, What kind of gentleman would ah be letting you go off into the wilderness with nobody to look after yer?" he put out his smoke under the heel of his boot and approached Aira to give Roc's feathers a quick ruffle. "Although you do have this fella here, I'm sure he's fiercer than he looks." he joked, winking at Aira.

She sent him one of those half-closed "oh-really?" eyes, either he wasn't so busy as he'd wanted to be, or he found her life more important. Either way he wanted to be with her, and she liked the thought of that. "A very bad one", she giggled at his question.
Roc didn't look pleased by the ruffling, but puffed himself up highly agreeing that he indeed was a very dangerous predator. "You are right in thate, now are you comminge?" she said in a flirty tone as a response to his wink and started to walk with a certain gesture that would make most docile men follow.

Henry liked the way his day was going, and not just because he thought he was about to get lucky in some kind of kinky lake situation. He liked being with Aira.
He followed her of course, but not because he was a docile man. If somebody called him 'docile' he would probably punch them before he got the chance to ask what the word actually meant.... and then he would punch them again in offense.
"You mentioned that yer...uh tribe might be on their way here..." Henry asked carefully, keeping pace next to her with his own cocky cowboy swagger. Since meeting Aira, he had been actively trying to tone down how racist he was about this sorta thing. After all he had knocked down Ambrose in the saloon for making an insensitive comment. He didn't want to look like a hypocrite (Not that he would know what the word hypocrite meant either)

"Yeah, I dide", Aira said not looking at him. She had a weird expression on her face that both could be excited expectation, insecurity, browsing through memories and something unknown, "from what people have told me I am certain that it is theme. I just don't know if I should be happy to see them again, or afraid of that they would want me backe."
She looked at him with a forced smile, she didn't want to trouble him with her inner troubles that most likely would turn out to be wasted. Her tribe was full of open, accomodating people, but they had their funny ways, and many of them had not been happy the day she left. Rumor said that they would like her to be Muasa's descendant. That was after all what she had been 'trained' to be, but her stepfather had been more considerate towards her than the tribe knowing from the day they took her that she would want to leave, and therefore had prepared and allowed her to go.

The smile dropped off Henrys face in an instant when she mentioned that her tribe might want to reclaim her. He pictured a hoard of natives riding in on painted mounts and stealing Aira away, he felt a spark of anger. "Do yer think they might try and take you away?" he asked, suddenly serious as though he were a real bodyguard and not just a booty call. They had reached the town limits by now and he looked around as though expecting an ambush.

Aira was frankly surprised to see the seriousness drawn on Henry's face, maybe he did more than fancy her. "I think they will try yese", she said calmly in a weird attempt to calm him too, "but they would not force me if I didn't want to. I hope. They think I am daugther of the sun, so maybe it is different. Either way I will make them understand, so no worriese", her last sentence ended in her usual cheerful tone as to indicate that neither of them should worry more about the subject. She didn't dwell with negative thoughts, especially those who weren't certain yet.
And to their luck no ambush - natives or robbers - were waiting for them... Yet.

Henry made a short humming sound and fiddled with the gun at his hip. He felt uneasy about this whole situation, he didn't know anything about her tribe or what they treated her like. Actually all the times they had been together before, he had always just talked about himself.... loudly and obnoxiously. "Well if they try to force yer to do anything, they'll have me to answer to, and that's a promise." he grumbled, looking off at a couple of grazing dinos on the horizon. He didn't pretend to understand her comment about daughters of the sun though, he tended to ignore the parts of her sentences that didn't make sense.
He couldn't see any threats on the way to the lake and they had soon arrived at the sparkling waters edge.

Henry's protective promise made Aira smile like a little fangirl, she had made herself so sure that nothing dramatic would happen that she was not nervous for being taken away anymore. She also felt more safe when he was around, that most have helped too.
They reached the lake, and Aira made a small noise that made Roc jump off her, and he started to goof around sniffing to things. Without further ado she started to undress herself as if she was completely alone. "You must enjoy my lack of shynesse", she adressed to Henry over her shoulder when her head peeked out from under her shirt.
She knew what sort of stuff that could run though a man, and what that stuff could do to them, but on one hand she trusted/liked Henry enough to lower her guard, and on the other hand she would raise that said guard faster than lightning.

Henry didn't know how to respond to her blunt statement right away, he was preoccupied by the fact she was stripping in front of him with the midday sun blazing down on them. He kind of just stared at her blankly until she was finished, his wolfish smile was back by now. This was a good day, he should just put worries aside until they arise.
"Ah'm not sure what makes you say that..." he joked in a low voice, walking up behind her and placing a hand on her shoulder, he did it in a way which may have been completely innocent were it not for his tone of voice and the fact she was nude. If she had been trying to incite certain thoughts into Henry then she had succeeded. "Perhaps ah should join you... in case there are dangerous critters down there ah mean." he said low into her ear.
