"Uhh... yeah those things ah had to do..." Henry said oddly, he decided it was as good a time as any to put his shirt on, they didn't seem to be in any immediate danger. "Just come find me later, ah'll meet you at the bucking bronto huh?" he continued awkwardly, hurridly putting on his hat. "You'll be right with these folk by yerself I'm sure..." he added, walking backwards away from her with something like panic still plastered all over his face.
Whether she knew it or not, Aira had just witnessed something very strange, it was near impossible to make Henry nervous about anything. Apparently being nervous made him talk really fast.
"I gotta... I mean I should go help Miss... I need to go... I'll see ya later today..." he mumbled at last before he turned and basically power walked back to town. He needed to get drunk... very drunk.

Aira could still not understand why this made Henry so nervous, he put much more into this even than there actually were. Well, to her 'religion' it meant that they were bound, true that, but it didn't have to mean anything to either of them, they could continue like nothing had happened... Maybe.
"See you later", was the only thing she managed to say to his back that rapidly dissapeared. She hoped that he wasn't angry.

Halfway back to town and out of sight of Aira, Henry had an epiphany of sorts. He wasn't husband material, not even fake 'It doesn't mean anything' husband material. He had been so caught up in making Aira happy that he hadn't put a single thought into what this meant while she was looking up at him with her puppy-dog eyes. This was ridiculous, on his way to this damned town he had held an unarmed merchant at gun point and robbed him of everything including his wedding ring, left the poor guy sobbing in the dust with nothing but the clothes on his back. Henry was a bad man... and he was well aware of it. He loved Aira too much to allow her to belong to such an degenerate ass, meaningless ceremony or not.
Arriving at the bucking bronto and staring up at the sign, he made his decision. He headed for the stables instead. He was leaving town... she was better off trapped with her people than with him.
Packing was harder than he thought it would be, the hotel owner seemed very cheerful to see him dragging his bags down the stairs and loading them onto Bull out front. “Do you need any help with those Mr. Barlow?” he asked gleefully. Henry shot him a warning look which made him shut his mouth quickly.
It was the longest ride down the thoroughfare that he had ever taken, it seemed like Bull was walking at half speed and Maddie was looking up at him with her tiny judging eyes. “What Madeline?!” He snapped at the little dinosaur, “Don't yer try to guilt me.” She just squeaked and kept walking.
When he reached the gate he was surprised to see Sanyi standing there casually. He pulled his hat down over his eyes so his friend couldn't see the obvious guilt on his face.

Sanyi was leaning against the wall blowing out a lazy cloud of smoke followed by a single ring while looking at Henry out of the corner of his eye.
"Ciao Enrico", he said as if they were in a classic spaghetti western, "where are you heading to in such furious haste?"

"Ah need to get out o' here Sanyi... and... it aint cos I'm being selfish... don't you even suggest it." Henry said strangely fast, Bull slowed to a halt, sensing either his masters distress or a juicy patch of shrubs to eat in front of Sanyi. The shrub most likely.
Henry pushed his hat further down over his face and jabbed his mount with his heels to no effect.

Sanyi flashed a tired, pale-yellow grin apparently amused by Henry's stumbling over his own words. "I will not suggest it, non ti preoccupare, if you give me a better reason for this spopntaneous departure", he didn't even move a muscle or changed his tone to express his dissapointment, only the arm that lifted the joint to his mouth was the only sign of life.

"Aira just asked me to marry 'er!" Henry blurted out, sounding like he was out of breath from holding that statement in. "Well... ah mean... not marry.. some sort of weird bonding ceremony.. so that her tribe can't take her away from here..." He continued really quickly.
He paused for a moment before jumping off Bull and marching right up to Sanyi, pulling his hat up off his face to look his friend in the eye.
"She said she needed me to do this.. but I just can't Sanyi... I can't... I'm not good enough for her." he tried to explain. "I don't want to let her down but I have to..."

Unlike Henry Sanyi kept calm, even when the other stared him right into his uneven eyes, maybe the smoke had cloaked his senses so much that his reflexes were sealed.
It took a while before he spoke. "Francamente, it sounds like she disagrees", he inhaled and kept the smoke down, "a girl does not ask anyone such things, and Aira is very direct, not to mention honest. She loves you, and apparently you love her, scusa, I cannot see the problem Enrico", the last thing he said with a lifted eyebrow while smoke crawled out from between his teeth.

"You can't see the problem... have you MET me?" Henry retorted, but he seemed a little unsure now. He took off his hat and messed with his hair, looking really freaked out. Madeline was staring up at him and grunting impatiently. "You think... she loves me...?" he said next, rubbing his forehead like all this was giving him a headache.
"I'm afraid you just missed Mr. Barlow, he just rode out of town. He packed all his things too, I assumed what with the two of you being so close... well... that he'd have told you where he went." the hotel owner informed Aira with a huge smile on his face, it looked like it was Christmas for him. He always hated Henry, the man bullied him on a regular basis.

"I know", Sanyi said and casually tossed the sorry remnants of the joint on the ground completely ignoring Henry's degradation of himself, "you're not the only person in Gwangi who talks to her, and one does not have to be a mindreader to know what she thinks. Now, you should go save your damsel in distress", it almost sounded like an order.
-
"He left?" for the first time in a lifetime Aira had no expression on her face. She walked outsite where an old man with a staff wearing a headdress similar to hers - but much more impressive - was waiting for her. She said something to him in a foreign language, and he responded. Although it wasn't english his tone and entire bodylanguage oozed of warm compassion. He gave her a one-hand hug and began to lead her south where her tribe was waiting for them.

"You're right." Henry said neutrally, taking a stolen pocket watch, engraved with S.M out of his coat and looking at it for a few seconds. "Shit! I was supposed to meet her now! She's gonna think I left... I mean ah did but... shit I gotta go!" Henry shot off and clambered onto Bull, urging him to race down the street and making the town shake in the process. "Thanks Sanyi!" He called out as an afterthought, trying not to lose his hat when Bull made a sharp turn.

Sanyi rose a hand as a goodbye gesture as Henry rumbled down the streets. He smiled to himself and lit another joint.

"Maybe he is just late", Aira said while the tribe was packing their stuff. They were not staying for the night and actually only made a stop for Aira's sake, the surrounding area did not contain enough wild dinosaurs to feed the entre tribe, and they didn't want to exterminate whole species. Also just a few hills away they had spotted a large group of wild iguanadons that suited their needs better, so that was where they were headed. But now that they were just about to begin the journey Aira hestitated.
"Sweet Aira, I would wait ten summers if that is what it takes for your Henry to arrive, but it is not I who is the one to decide. Whether he is late or let you down we have to go now", the old man from before, assumingly Muasa, walked up next to her with a backpack on his shoulders and an Archaeopteryx with worn-out pale feathers clinging to his staff. It was almost impossible to see that it was from this dino that Aira got her head-feathers.
Without a word Aira walked with him to the edge of the gathering of people, her constantly looking over her shoulder.

"Where'd she go?!" Henry yelled at the south gate watchman, receiving no response but an offended frown. "Where did who go?" the man replied indignantly, hoisting his gun up onto his lap so Henry could see it. "Cut the crap, which road did Aira take?!" Henry asked again, he was well aware that the watchman knew Aira, everyone knew Aira. It was impossible to miss her bright yellow feathers. The man sighed pointedly and gestured down a road. Henry didn't stop to thank him, a second later and Bull was crashing down the road at top speed. He was pretty fast for an ankylosaur too, he had to be, he was trained for stagecoach robberies. Also Henry had stolen his egg from a courier.
Was that the tribe up ahead? He couldn't see much but a cloud of dust up ahead. It might have been a herd of something. He didn't bother to worry about that, he kept thundering on until the group of people came into view.
Aira was there! and they were leaving?! They were taking her away! Just like she's warned they would! Henry felt a familiar sensation come over him, replacing the bizarre awkwardness that had plagued him all day, it was anger and it fitted him like a glove. "You let Aira go free or I'll take yer all out!" He yelled, bursting into the center of the group with a shotgun in each hand, Bull spinning around waving his tail threateningly to keep any attackers at bay while Henry aimed at everyone he could see in turn. "I said let her go!"

Aira was devastated. She actually thought that the tribe would listen to her, but the thought hadn't even occurred to chieftain Ooun. It was like that he saw her separation from the tribe as a short period in which she would come to understand that she deep down wanted to come with them. Of course, that was only natural in his eyes. Only if she got connected with another person she could release her bond to the tribe and be inappropriate as a shaman.
Muasa had of course found another apprentice, but he doubted that he had enough time on earth to teach him at least the things he had taught Aira, so as much as it broke his heart to see her sad he found it to be best for everyone that she came with them.
Everybody in the tribe turned their heads when the ankylosaur with his mad rider came storming towards them; Dark skinned people in all ages with the same nose-and-forehead and arm tattoos as Aira, differing from each individual. Apart from the tattoos and leatherbands around their heads they all had each their outstanding features; some had bombastic feather adornments all over, some wore dinosaur-skulls as crowns, some had beads in their hair, some had clothes that looked like eath-colored shreds of skin sewed together, and some were even more plain looking than Aira. Although there were no hierarchical system in this kind of fascion they all seemed to be part of the same group. Even their dinosaurs consisted of a broad range of species. Most of them were smaller predators, but there were also a few hadrosaurs and armored ones, even fewer large carnivores. In this company Xon was the tallest, and therefore easy to spot.
The tribe made an opening for Henry that closed around him again so that he was trapped in a circle of humans and dinosaurs. Many of them had ready spears, bows and knifes in hands, and they uttered growling, roaring sounds deep down their throats - in huge contrast to the high-pitched warcries you usually linked with natives - but none of them went for an assault, not even when Bull swung his mighty tail.
There was an awkward moment where nothing happened, but then Aira stepped forward, and the tribe got quiet. It only took her a second to calculate the situation before she dashed as fast as she could towards Henry, agile jumped onto Bull and almost crashed into Henry in a clinging hug - Roc had leaped off her shoulders before she'd started to run.
And then the tribe suddenly burst out in excited cheers. They seemed completely indifferent about Henry's aggresive entrance or that he'd threatned to shoot all of them, they were just as quirky as Aira.
A fully grown man emerged from the crowd of people and placed himself a few meters from the ankylosaur. He had nothing to cover his body apart from a small piece of clothe around his waist and many many dark tattoos around his arms and legs - his entire face was painted white apart from a thin line in the middle, and his braided hair almost reached his knees. One wouldn't expect a chief to wear so little compared to his flock, but this man radiated so much power and authority that he didn't even need any intimidating garnish.
He was followed by an old man with a feathered headdress that shushed the others, but none of them spoke. It was like they waited for Henry to say something, maybe apologize for his delay, maybe claim his woman in pure animal-instinct and passion, it was simply impossible to tell.

Henry kept yelling threateningly whilst singling out the most dangerous members of the group and memorizing their positions. This was a stupid decision, he would have never taken on such a large group alone in his right mind. If they decided to attack then all he could do was try and take as many as he could to death with him.
He kept both his guns aimed and ready as Aira barreled into him. "Aira what in the hell in goin' on?" he whispered to her urgently. There was a naked guy approaching them, presumably their leader.
