It was alarming to see the normally perky and jolly Pru so upset like this, but now that she finally explained, it was all beginning to make sense. The way she acted last night, that far-away look in her eyes. Perry knew something must be wrong, but he never suspected something as serious as this. He watches as she collapses before him, pouring out all her secrets and worries, genuinely thinking that she herself was a terrible person.
Perry slowly gets down on his knees, gently prying his wrists away from Prudence so he cold hold her face and make her look at him. "Prudence, you are a good person...." he says softly, stroking his thumbs along her cheeks to wipe away the tears. "Sure, you've done bad things...But having all this guilt and anguish over it obviously means you have good in you." he lets her face go so he could pull her close against him in an embrace, rocking with her gently and rubbing his hand up and down along her back.
"Don't ever think you don't deserve someone--as a friend or otherwise--just because of what you've done." His voice was soft and caring, the hand running along her back warm and comforting. He hated seeing anybody so distraught, he wanted to do everything he could to cheer them up. Prudence especially. "If you're anything like the prostitutes at the saloon then you probably had no other choice but to get money that way, either by selling yourself or stealing from others. It's understandable, and it doesn't make you a bad person for it, just someone in desperate need...I'm so sorry that you had to go through all of that though. I had no idea how bad it was for you..."
He closes his eyes and holds her closer, squeezing her softly against him and reaching up to gently pet her head. He wasn't sure if his words would even matter, but maybe she would get some comfort out of this embrace at the very least...

She had expected a lot but certainly not what she got. It took her a minute to realize what was happening, when he carefully held her face looking her in the eyes and she was overwhelmed with a warm feeling. She was still dumbstruck sobbing when he pulled her close, his hands gently wrapped around her and she felt so tiny and fragile in his arms. She clawed at his shirt and continued to cry until she just couldn't anymore. She just sagged against him breathing exhausted. "I don't usually cry", she mumbled into his shirt, lifting a hand and poking his chest, "It's all your fault. I get all feel around you." She sighed, she wasn't really hugging back, her arms were too heavy and rested in her lap. The tea had fallen to the ground somewhen before. Still she kept pushing against him to make sure he didn't go away or stop hugging her because it was so comfortable. "I would rather sat here, if you don't mind me", she said. Then, as if something jumped to her mind, she twitched, again pushing a finger into his chest, "And don't tell anyone about the Warrant. Not even McKenzie. She hangs out with the Sheriff and it is honestly a miracle my warrant has not reached this part of the country yet. It's a pretty high warrant too..." The last sentence was more to herself, because really it was probably just a matter of time before she had another few bounty hounders on her heels.

To Perry's relief, Pru eventually calmed down enough to stop crying. It seemed he was able to comfort her at least and that made him happy. Her first comment got a chuckle out of him and he looks down at Pru while she pokes at his chest, still keeping his arms around her. "Don't worry about it, I don't mind at all." he replies, wrapping his arms a little more tightly around her to show he wasn't leaving.
Perry then raises a brow at her request and frowns in worry. He never kept secrets from McKenzie before--except of course about having the crush on her, which she eventually found out about anyway. It was true though, she was close friends with the sheriff and she may very well turn Pru in just for the safety of the town and maybe even himself. Perry couldn't live with himself if he let that happen though. "Okay, I won't tell anybody...Not even McKenzie." he felt a pang in his stomach just by saying that, he hoped he was doing the right thing.
"I guess that means you wouldn't want to stay in her home then, huh?" He asks with a lopsided smile, one arm still around Prudence while his other arm comes up to rub at his neck. "If you don't mind me asking...What is the warrant for anyway?" From what she was saying earlier, it didn't sound like she had killed anybody at least, but what else could she have done that was so bad to have a warrant on her head?

Pru frowned at the question. "It's a bit complicated. Long story short I stole a pretty huge dime." She fiddled at his shirt thinking about how to not lie but wrap the story nicely so it didn't sound as bad. "Well...from a wealthy Gang Leader in Boston. Just a smuggler. He didn't take it too well."
Truth was, the man was mad and girls who had been with him disappeared in a short frequency. Word had been going around he killed the girls because it entertained him, others he abused brutally. But he was on the laws good side, and no one cared for a few brothel girls disappearing.
"That thing was pretty worthy I guess." If only so, it was a fake and complete shit, didn't earn her anything. The only reason he had sent his bloodhounds after her was for principle. No one stole from Linus Rayne and got away with it, let alone a little Saloon girl.
She waved her hand upwards, "I'm pretty fond of my hand i guess." Although surely she would lose something entirely else if they ever got to her. Her head for example.
"And it's not thaaat high. I mean it's only 220 bucks, that's high for a gal like me I guess but well." Make that another 0 at the end. She grinned upwards, "So it's not all that bad", she laughed awkwardly. Smooth Pru, really Smooth.

Stole from a gang leader in Boston? That alone was a scary thought. He wanted to ask how she was crazy enough to risk her life by stealing from someone like that, but that was in the past and there wasn't really any way to change the fact. Still, it was definitely some risky business and Perry most definitely was not going to be telling McKenzie about it now. There was no doubt that she'd chase Prudence out of Gwangi, if not turn her in to the sheriff.
"220...I guess that's not bad at all, considering the kind of person you stole from. You should be safe here, the bounty might not even matter enough to reach this far." he mutters, hoping he was right. "As long as you aren't stealing or causing any major problems here, I think the sheriff will stay off your tail at least. There's a lot bigger crooks to worry about that have come to Gwangi than yourself." he sighs, patting her back.
"I'll look out for, okay? You're safe in my home. And the offer still stands if you want to try out for a job at the saloon. I think you'd make a great waitress with that friendly personality of yours." he says with a grin before he bunches up the sleeve of his shirt to dab away any stray tears from Pru's face.

Pru hardly registered anything after, "I'll look out for you." She stared up to him with glassy eyes as he carefully stroked her face. Look out for her? For HER? His arm was still clutched around her tightly and protective. When was the last time someone had told her he would protect her? Last time must've been Buck the day before he disappeared in the factory riot. She clutched onto his shirt, begging he wouldn't disappear like Buck had.

Perry smiles sadly at how desperate Prudence looked at him, seeming to cling to his every word. She always put up such a happy facade, it was terrible to find out just how hard her life actually was. Even if he didn't have these deep feelings for her, he wanted to treat her right, give her happiness to genuinely smile about. Nobody deserved the kind of life Prudence had. Perry even treated the prostitutes at the saloon with respect and comfort, most of the time he'd pay them just to sit and talk with him.
The blonde leans forward to give Prudence a tender kiss to the top of her head then he pulls back to look down at her again. "Say...How would you like to come with me to the general store so we can pick out some food to stock my pantry?" He would mention the job offer again to her another time when she wasn't so distraught. Maybe some fresh air and a bit of walking around would do her some good and get her mind off other things.

Her face flushed a deep red when his lips touched her forehead in a protective gesture and for a second there she forgot how to breathe. She just nodded and gave a small smile at his proposition. She made a mental note to noogie Nick really good the next time they met, although she could understand the scavengers trouble. She let Perry help her up, only to fall against him again, her legs weak from the sudden draining and emotional outburst. "Sorry", she muttered, laughing shakily clutching to his arms until she could straighten herself properly, flattening her hair, skirt and the ruffles in the top, which had been disheveled through falling asleep in them and then quivering around on the floor. She then slapped her face lightly, getting rid of the leftover stains of tears, although her eyes would look terrible, but she could blame the hot weather for that, so she folded her hands behind her back, smiling at him. "Good to go."

Perry smiles encouragingly as he helps the ginger stand up, not minding her stumbling at all. While Prudence straightens herself out, Perry does the same, double-checking that his shirt was tucked in properly as well as brush himself off a bit. He returns Pru's smile with one of his own, and quickly brushes his fingers through his hair so it didn't look quite so disheveled. "Great, let's head out then~" he replies before turning to walk out the door.
Once outside, Perry couldn't help but squint at the brightness, causing him to rub at his eyes while he steps off the porch. "So, Pru, what are some of your favorite things you like to eat?" he asks, turning to look back at the woman after properly adjusting to the light. He assumed she would eat just about anything, all things considered, but perhaps she liked certain foods in particular.

The ginger squinted at the burning sunlight, shielding her eyes with her hand.
"Favorite things, um. I dunno anything that tastes well, i guess?" She frowned at his question, why he would actually buy something especially for HER was still beyond her understanding. She intended to trail along with the charming blonde, helping hem carry the goods, nothing big. He was already housing her, no need for him to change his food preferences, also she had no actual favorites. Anything would do.

Perry chuckles a little at the response before shrugging. "Well alright then, suit yourself." he says with a smile before turning to head for the stable that he kept Amora and Ruckus in. "Hello there my little darlin'~" Perry coos at his wuerhosaurus as he hefts up some giant pannier bags so he could drape them over Amora's back.
"We're going to be getting quite a load of groceries for this trip, so I'm going to have to bring Amora along to help carry everything." the blonde says while fastening the bags securely to the dinosaur. "The general store isn't far at all, so there's no need to actually get there on a dino...But would you want to ride on Amora for fun anyway while I lead her along?" Perry turns to look back at Prudence while grinning and he gives Amora a pat to her side to show he finished securing the bags.

Pru only noted her old mount by lightly nudging his beak. He grunted heartedly before dropping back down and falling asleep again. She smiled.
At Perrys proposal she blushed and started to fiddle her dress again. "I...it's okay I can walk you don't have to..." but the blonde was already holding his hand out, waiting for her. She pressed her lips together in a tight smile, letting him lift her up to his mount. She was even sitting sideways, like a lady. She was pretty sure her face looked like a tomato by now, she wasn't used to be treated like a normal girl and nervously rubbed her arm. Also she was starting to miss Dannys coat. It always had been kind of protective, being heavy and thick around her, being outside without it was really unusual. With Perry along though, she felt confident enough to go without it.

Once Perry was sure Prudence was up there safely, he gives her a sweet smile before taking Amora by the reins. "I'll make sure not to go too fast for you." he tells the ginger before starting to lead his dinosaur out of the stable, closing the gate behind them once they were away from it.
Just as Perry said, it didn't take them long at all to reach the general store, and once they did, the blonde helps Prudence off of the dinosaur. Afterwards, he ties Amora up to a hitching post then heads inside and begins looking around. After a short greeting to Fred, the owner of the store, Perry starts listing off the different items to him that he would be buying: bags of flour and milled corn, cans of different foods, pickled goods, some fruits, vegetables, eggs, and finally a bit of dried meat.
After he was sure he had listed off everything he would need, he turns towards Prudence, smiling all the while. "Are you sure you don't want anything special? A little treat maybe? I really won't mind getting it." he asks, hoping he wasn't coming off as too pushy or something. He really just wanted to make Pru happy and a little spoiled for once, especially after being a bit responsible for making her cry earlier that morning.

Pru let herself be heaved down from the mount by Perry and found herself ridiculously light regarding how easy he managed to hold her. Or maybe he was just strong.
She stood quiet and a bit shy behind him as he told the owner what he needed. When he asked her about a treat she just shook her head smiling broadly. She opened her arms to take some of the goods and bring them to his mount, while he waited for the rest. As she stuffed the goods into one of the bags, petting the goodnatured but curious animal simultaneously, she figured she was going to ask Perry (again) why he was being so nice to her as soon as he came out.

Amora gladly allowed Prudence to pet her, and even turned her head to nudge at the young woman's arm in a friendly manner. Meanwhile, Perry paid for all the food, carrying out the heaviest items first, namely the bags of flour and milled corn. He certainly didn't want to give Pru any chances to try and be helpful by carrying these out and possibly hurting herself.
Since the ginger had already placed some of the food into one sack, Perry went ahead to use the opposite one, grunting as he stuffed the heavy bags inside. Amora showed no signs of discomfort herself, already used to carrying heavy loads for the man on occasion. She hardly even felt the weight of the bags which were nothing compared to how much she weighed in total.
