((Whoa, I haven't done forum RPs in more years than I'd like to admit. So forgive me if I mess anything up somehow, ahah...I'm assuming here that "closed" means Roleplays that aren't accepting other people into it, and that it doesn't mean the entire thread is closed. derp :'I))
Perry had been having a fairly eventful day today, though considering the reason for it being eventful, it went without saying that he wished it were a lot more dull. When he got home from working at the saloon the last thing he expected was to find a giant hole in his kitchen wall and his entire pantry raided.
It was a strange thing to steal from him (not that he had much valuables anyway), but at least it could be easily remedied. He would just have to go out to the market later and buy some more food to stock the shelves once again. He was housing another full grown adult after all, so he'd actually have to keep food available at all times. He didn't want poor Prudence to go without!
Perry put up some quick patchwork on his wall by placing an old tarp over it for the time being. He would worry about boarding it up properly tomorrow once he got all the materials for it. It was such a pain having all these ruffians piling into town for Pennyfeather's tournament. In Perry's eyes they were nothing but greedy, selfish people who didn't mind killing just to become wealthy.
Pru seemed to be the only exception to this thinking however, even though she didn't arrive in time to participate for winning the fortune anyway. Perry couldn't help but dote over her and make sure she was well taken care of too.
Today was no different, seeing as the blonde had brought back a paper bag containing a couple of outfits for her. She obviously had no other clothes on her and it was painfully obvious that the current one she had on was falling apart at the seams.
After double-checking that the tarp would not easily come off of the hole, Perry picks up the bag he had brought home and holds it out to the young woman. "I thought you'd like these for now...They're second-hand outfits I got from the saloon girls, but I figure it's better than nothing until you can get some proper clothes. My friend McKenzie said she'd pay a tailor to make some outfits especially for you. So with that, plus these, I think you'll have a pretty good wardrobe." he says with a smile, hoping she would like the choice of clothes.
They were just some plain dresses, a few stockings and some underwear (Perry hadn't looked at them of course). Nothing too fancy, but it was good enough for now at least.
((Yikes that was long, I'm sorry! xD; My first posts tend to be like this to set the mood and such, but my other ones aren't quite as bad usually. ;u;))

((Don't worry I'm a complete rookie to everything of this ;D ))
The ginger girl guiltily eyed the tarp covering the big hole, she didn't make it but she was still really sorry for the extra work burdened on the nice man. She'd have to find Nick later and give him a noogie, maybe even get him to apologize, Perry seemed to be an easy going person anyways.
When he handed her the paper bag she was rather baffled. No one had presented her with anything in years, let alone simply give her clothes for free. She began inspecting the bag's contents. There were beautiful top dresses, gorgeous and soft silk skirts, pretty patterns on each of the lighter garments and actually WHITE undergarments. And if they were yellow or reddish to pink, it was because they were actually designed to be that color, not because of the heavy smoke in the saloons sticking to it, or the result of futile tries of rubbing substances out of it. Pru was left rather speechless, she was actually going to possess several dresses. AT ONCE. She considered the option of hugging the life out of the Blonde, he might just not explode into social awkwardness like all the rest of the towns people. Not much thought was left on the option though, because she was sure if she didn't hug him she was going to start bawling her guts out. So she just slipped her arms around his waist and hugged as tightly as her thin arms allowed her too. "Thank you so much" she sniffed.
((what am I even doing with my life....Pruuuuu you should be classified for danger))

((For a rookie I think you do really well though! :'D and oh gosh, how is she constantly adorable like this. My heart cannot take it .v. <3))
Perry wasn't entirely sure what to make of Pru's reaction as she stared silently at the bag's contents, and he was beginning to wonder if perhaps this time he was overstepping some boundaries. He hardly knew the woman after all, maybe he ended up offending her by just assuming she needed these clothes.
Those assumptions were quickly shot down though once Pru suddenly hugged and thanked him. Perry stiffens a little at first, not expecting such a reaction, but soon relaxes and smiles warmly down at the woman. "You're most welcome...Do you like them alright?" he asks before hesitantly wrapping his arms around Pru's frame to give her a hug in return.
She was so thin and frail compared to him, he was afraid he'd end up snapping her in two if he hugged too hard. At least she was getting proper meals now though, so hopefully she'd be gaining some healthy weight soon.

Pru nodded visciously at his question, "they are gorgeous! I have never had this beautiful and many dresses in my whole life! Thank you so much!" She looked up from where her she had buried her face in his chest, smiling wide. "Thank you so much!" She noticed his arms closing around her small frame, pressing her even closer into a gentle hug. And for once in a long while she actually enjoyed the physical contact. She buried her face into his chest again, carefully taking his smell in. It was a lot like the saloon, but not in an uncomfortable way and there was still a lot of ... him too. She was probably never going to be entirely comfortable being in touch with a man, but his was really strangely nice. She felt kind of protected. She hadn't in a long time...

It was hard to believe how someone so sweet could have this much hardship in their life, and Perry couldn't help but be shocked at the fact that Pru had never had something even as simple as a few clothes at once. This only made him want to cater to her even more and shower her with gifts. She deserved a better life than what she had.
"Hey, think nothing of it. I'm just glad to help you out!" Perry finally responds before reaching up to rub Pru's head a bit. He wasn't exactly used to getting praise or hugs like this (minus the sisterly affection he'd get from McKenzie sometimes), so it came as a pleasant surprise when Pru did it. Especially over something that seemed so simple to him.
"I think I have an old chest around here that you can use to put your clothes in if you'd like. It's better than keeping them in this bag anyway." he suggests, turning his head to look out of the kitchen and see if he could locate said chest without moving from his spot. Pru seemed much too content hugging him at the moment and he didn't want to take that away from her. Besides, it felt nice getting hugs.

The Ginger lifted her head, then leaned sideways, then leaned back facing Perry again and this time she was not sure whether she could keep from bawling so she just buried her face back into the man's chest. Despite all that had happened up to now it was so off from her understanding how someone would be so nice and to her of all people. "Why are you so nice to me", she murmured quietly. Then her usual self whipped back in, she literally slapped herself back into her smile grinned up and whirled out of the embrace to pick up the dresses. She also decided to start blabbering in order to cover up for the mumbling and hope he hadn't heard it. "Thank you again! These are sooo pretty, I am so gonna enjoy them. By the way, would you like something to drink, after all the confusion and work and stuff. And it's so dry, Have you noticed? It's always so dry! ....In the desert. Umm. Well, anyways, tea or just water? I don't know how to make that coffee stuff, or you could have some ale?" She fished her coats pocket for the half full bottle of whisky she had gotten in the last town for a job. By that time though she had already shuffled to the kitchen, busying herself one way or the other, leaving Perry a bit dumbstruck and hopefully overhearing.

Perry raises a brow at Pru's somber mumble, about to ask her to repeat what she said only to have her suddenly out of his arms and talking a million miles a minute. He didn't even have time to respond to one thing before she was on to the next and he was left reeling and confused at what just happened.
"I...uh..." he turns around to watch as Pru went to the kitchen, shocked to find the bottle of whiskey suddenly pulled out from her coat. Just how big were those pockets anyway? "Well, if you're offering, I wouldn't mind having a bit of that whiskey there." he responds, feeling as though it was an appropriate drink after the kind of day he had.
It seemed Prudence's plan to distract him from her muttering had worked out after all.

The Ginger hurried to fill up the short glass as fast and as full as possible, handing it to the Blonde with a big grin. Meanwhile looking for other things to chatter about, because if there was one thing she was good in it was blabbering her opposites' focus on something into oblivion. So she talked about coffee, everything that concerned coffee, everything she had ever heard, seen, smelled, tasted or touched about coffee. Then she switched to the chest he had talked about. Went back to coffee and started to talk about Dinosaurs. Dinosaurs in smart, dumb, yellow, green, red, herbivore, canine, short, long, tall, big. Big eventually led her to Ruckus, dragging her mind back to the Saloons, the men, the smells, the fact that she couldn't possibly freeload at Perrys, had to pay him somehow but couldn't find a job and back to the Saloon and the Ginger Sin. The only way she had ever safely earned money. She bit her lip, looking into emptiness while her mind reeled off in the endless circle of not finding a solution.
Of course she hadn't vocalized any of that, it would never come to her mind to load her problems onto someone else's mind. Like uncle Bo had always said: "Problems better be solved by yerselves, 'tis te easiest way tah stay witouht regrets. Can't worry teh others, 'twill only bahther dem too."

In all his life, Perry could never recall ever meeting somebody who could actually talk more than him! It was amusing listening to Prudence yammer on, and while it may have seemed like pointless topics to most, the blonde listened to every word intently. When he'd get the chance, he would even chime in his own points to the different topics, smiling and nodding at Pru while he sips at his drink.
When she suddenly trailed off into silence with a troubled look on her face, it caused a bit of concern from the man. He tilts his head at her, raising a brow in worry. "Is something wrong...?" He asks, not expecting the sudden gloomy-looking demeanor to come over her.

Pru visibly flinched at the question being torn entirely from her thoughts. She stared wide eyed. "umm, sorry what?" Even though she had her attention back in the here and now, her mind was still on the Saloons and other, fairly inexistent possibilities to earn money. Gnawing on her lip she pursued yet again the ironic thought of the fact, that while she was physically incapable of ordinary work, she still could only use her body to earn money. Be it dancing, singing or ....other activities. She wasn't yet able to slap her joyful facade back into gear entirely, internally kicking herself. She had bothered for years to build that facade and now of all times it decided to bitch it's goodbye and take a holiday. She'd have a hard time keeping composure, especially if Perry planned on staying this generous, friendly and warm. She wasn't used to handling friendly. She was used to being barked, cursed or shout at, maybe a cold comment here and there, maybe a more harsh one now and then, behind her back so she could barely hear it, or directly into her face, maybe accompanied with smite, coldness or simple not caring, but she could set a smile and understand all of it.
How to understand generosity and smile at how willingly someone would accept, help AND care for her, was so much beyond her she couldn't even phrase her confusion.

Even though she tried to hide it, it was obvious that something was definitely troubling the redhead. Perry had no way of knowing what though, and he felt it was better not to pry. If Prudence wanted to tell him about it, she would. There was no reason to make her uncomfortable by asking too much about it.
"I'm just wondering if you're feeling alright, you just seemed troubled is all..." He answers before gesturing to the sofa in the living room. "Do you need to sit down or something? Are you hungry?"

Pru blinked, "Umm no, I'm fine I..." she fiddled on her yellowish undergarment that was showing beyond her red corsage "You know what I think I'm gonna try one of the dresses!" With that she whirled out of the kitchen towards the storage room where they'd left the bag, closing the door swiftly not before throwing a last wide grin back. When the door was shut she leaned against it and let a long breath go, sliding down to the ground her back pressed against the wood. Whatever was wrong with her today was taking it's toll, she was tired. Mostly of herself. Why was she even attempting on another job? Usually it wouldn't bother her to be without and loiter around but she couldn't burden Perry with her freeloading. She would just go to the Saloon the next day and apply as the all-round girl. Singing, dancing, and the whole shebang, Ruckus would probably need some treatment for his arthritis too. She could literally see him loitering in the shadow of Perrys house, snoring like no tomorrow.
She smiled carefully pulling the bag of clothes closer, and choosing from the garments. She came out a short while later, wearing a white undergarment with huge puffy short-sleeves, and a deep blue dress, buttoned from her cleavage down to her waist with a black ruffled edging on both the upper and the lower end, as well on her hip where the skirt emerged, floating like silk water and actually her size, so she didn't have to knot half her skirt up in order to even walk properly. "So", she asked Perry, "What do you think?"

Perry blinks in surprise as Pru suddenly left to change and he lets out a soft sigh before finishing off his whiskey. There must have been a lot more to her than Perry could imagine, he just hoped he was providing a decent amount of comfort to her.
He sets his empty glass in the sink to be washed later then he walks out to sit on the arm of the sofa and wait for Prudence to finish dressing. When she finally stepped out with the new outfit on, Perry was momentarily speechless. He stares wide-eyed up at her, admiring how nice the whole ensemble looked.
"I...Wow, Pru, it looks beautiful on you..." he responds, surprised with how something as simple as an outfit change could bring out the best in her. He already thought she looked pretty, but this outfit really complemented her looks. "That blue really brings out your hair color, too..."

The ginger bit her lip, her cheeks flushing a bright pink. "It's just a dress." She mumbled. 'It's just me' was what she had intended to say. She nervously rubbed her neck, noticing the long strands that had slipped from the tie again.
She glanced at the still seemingly dumbstruck Cardshark, twirling one of her strands around her fingers. "Actually", she said quietly, tilting her head only lightly, "You could braid my hair now, if you'd like?" She tried a shy smile.

Perry could feel a strange wave of emotion coming over him just by looking at Prudence and he couldn't help but stare from her face, down to her feet and back up again. She really did look nice in that outfit, and the blonde was having a hard time hiding his admiration. His cheeks were even flushing slightly.
Perry blinks a bit at Pru's suggestion before giving her a toothy smile then pushing himself off the arm of the couch to stand. "I'd love to!" He replies proceeding to head off for the kitchen. "Grab your brush for me then go ahead and sit on the sofa, I'll be right there." The mentioned brush was another gift from him, given to him by McKenzie so he could present it to Pru.
As Pru went about doing what Perry asked, he busies himself by filling up a glass with water so he could use it to wet down Pru's hair a bit, and make it easier to work with. Once the glass was full, he walks back into the living room and carefully sets the glass down on the floor. "Would you like me to take the ribbon out for you?"
