(( Rp for Jay and Hindrick. Maybe Lester? I dunno. ))
The loud pak of metal hitting rock sounded through the canyon, followed by the roar of a rifle. Copious bullets peppered the rock a certain man was using for cover. Hindrick leaned heavily against the rock in question, a look of intense discomfort and surprise painting his features. It seemed the bandits of this damned desert had a thing for him. They just wouldn't stop shooting at him. Seriously? What had he done?
Hindrick took a quick glance when the bullets stopped for a brief moment, only to have another zoom back and cause rocks and dust to hit his face. Sputtering the man leaned back to his safety, hoping that they would stop soon. He had no other cover that Fion could make it too. The dinosaur in question was curled up next to her master as tight as she could be, eyelids shut tight and flinching at every rifle sound. Alaois was hiding in one of the pouches, intent on not moving until everything was over and down with.
"YA PEACOCK. GET YER ASS OUT FROM THAR," one of the voices called. Hindrick of course made no move. "I'd rather not!" "We wan shot ya'." "I highly doubt that!" The Russian yelled back, slightly confused by the lack of bullets being fired at him. "We just wan yer little dino. The angry one." "No. I don't think I like that idea. Can't you have another?" "Noh. Ah wan that one." "What's he done to deserve such attention," Hindrick called again, this time staring at the pouch Alaois was hiding in. "'E scratched mah face up real good. I wan ta' teach him a lesson!" "Sir, I think he would have had a good reason to have done that-" Hindrick began, but was stopped with another bullet hit the rock. Okay they still had bullets.
"AH WANT THAT DINO. 'E RUINED MAH PURDY FACE!" The man roared and a few of the other bandits agreed with him. Hindrick wiped his brow and stared at the little beast that popped his head out. "Alaois, I swear, the next time you maul someone and they come after me, I'm sending you to the zoo," Hindrick's harsh tone and glare seemed to be enough to cause the beast to return to his hiding place.
"Sir! I would have to decline your request. He is a valuable piece of research and I am sure you do not have his best interests in mind. I'll be keeping him," Hindrick called over to the man, only to be greeted with more bullets pecking at his hiding spot. the man bit his lip and bent down, causing Fion to do the same. They were either going to have to wait these bandits out, or run as soon as they stopped firing to reload. But Hindrick had a feeling they were inching closer. It didn't help that the bandits had manged to scare him enough to drop his rifle when he went for cover. Not that it'd be any help. These Canyons were impossible to shot in.

((Pftttt Hindrick I love you so muchhhh))
She heard them- bullets. A lot of them, too.
The thief had taken Dune out for a run. The creature loved to strut his stuff, but most of the time, a good run was all that was needed to keep him happy. Though the sounds of bullets and screaming certainly deterred the fun, and just maybe... one voice stuck out.
Jay led Dune towards the canyon and dismounted, then pointed a scolding finger at her mount. "Stay. Ya hear?" She gave him a warning look, then slowly creeped over, looking around the canyon bend to see a group of bandits, their target hidden sufficiently behind the rocks. But it wouldnt be long before bullets weren't enough. Whoever the man was, he was in a bad situation.
The thief almost left. Why was it her business, anyway? She ran a hand through her hair. Maybe she just felt bad is all. Senseless killing was nothing to joke about.
But back to the situation. She frowned, looking around. Five...six maybe? There was no way she could take them all down without getting shot herself. Maybe a trick? Whoever this man was, he better have been important. She stepped out from the rocks, walking forward with a slight sway in her hips.
"Hey boys," She called, crossing her arms, a glint in her eye. "Instead of cornering helpless people in corners like hatchlings, how about you check out the goldmine right around this bend. Plenty to go around," She lied. Well that sucked.

(( THE ONLY TIME HE CAN HAVE A CASUAL CONVERSATION IS BEING SHOT AT BY BANDITS. ))
The bandits growled at the man's resistance to giving up the little beast. The largest man who currently had a piece of clothe tied over his eye was shooting the rock with what one would call a vengeful glare. It wasn't until one of the other men tapped the leader on the shoulder that he looked behind him. "What?" He queried, not having heard the girl earlier, and even more confused on why she was even standing behind them.
'Boss, she says thar's a goldmine," one of the underlings whispered to the injured man. The large man scoffed and slapped the backside of the underling's head, causing the man to trip forward a bit. "I DUN NEED NO GOLD. AH WAN THAT RAT OF A DINO," the man roared and glared at the men who had stopped shooting all together. "WHY DID YA' STOP SHOOTIN'?"
Hindrick of course used this brief moment of silence to peak at the bandits. They looked rather distracted. The stocky man sprinted for where he had left his rifle, landing hard on the ground as he snatched it from the dirt. He glanced up as one of the men gave a shout and angled his rifle at the Russian. Hindrick's eyes went wide and he pushed himself up form the ground, running as quickly as he could back to his hiding spot with bullets peppering the dirt right behind his feet. He slide back into his spot, panting and clutching his rifle. Fion gave a worried growl and crouched even closer to her master. At least he had his rifle now.
"'E's got his rifle now boss!" the one bandit called from his lookout. The leader of the little gang growled and looked back to Jay. "It's yer fault. You wench! I want that dino and his fucking owner dead!" The man growled and pushed the others back to shooting. The eye-patched man grabbed Jay by the arm, an angry grin on his face. "That lil' dino did this ta me," He growled and flipped the piece of fabric over, revealing and very well scratched eye. It was unsure of the eye was intact, but it looked a mess.
A rifle blast sounded that was different from the others and one of the bandit's on the ridge cried out in pain. The leader lifted his head and looked over to his underlings. A few of them had moved back to better cover, the others were trying to drag the man back from the returning fire.
"I don't want to have to kill any of you, please just let me go or I will aim for your heads this time!" A voice with an Irish brogue floated up.

Jay stared. He just wanted his dinosaur- Wait, was that Hindrick? Of there was a reason to help now, that would have been it.
"But you could buy a million of them things with all that gold!" She said, trying to push the lie. But it obviously was failed. She glared, snarling softly as he grabbed her arm, wincing as he pulled back his cloth. "Ooo, looks pretty damn bad. Might want to see a doctor. Or someone who can just work on your face. You're an ugly feller." A smirk settled on her lip as she lifted a leg and sent a heeled kick to his abdomen. "Now keep those filthy hands off me. I'm too pretty~"
She ran passed the man, avoiding anymore limb snatching, then put two fingers to her mouth and whistled. It didnt take long for Dune to come running around the corner, tongue sticking out of his mouth playfully. She pointed to the other bandits. "Wake em up." The nanotyrannus blinked, growled softly, then turned. He leaned forward and gave the loudest, most intimidating roar he could muster.

The bandit would have slapped Jay if it wasn't for the fact the woman's sturdy knee connected with his stomach. He grunted and doubled over, successfully releasing Jay and crumpling to the floor. The large man groaned and clutched his stomach, distracted to say the least for the moment.
The bandits barely had a chance to react as the feathered Nanotyrannus ran out from the corner, tongue hanging out. A few blinked and jumped behind cover, others seemed to confused to even move. The injured man went to lift his pistol, aiming for the woman. But the pak of a rifle and a bullet hitting the metal of the barrel stopped him. It seemed Hindrick was still gunning for the man laying in the dirt.
As the roar echoed through the canyon Fion opened her eyes. The Xiongguanlong lifted her great head. She knew that roar. The beast let a roar out in reply, this one not as angry as Dune's and more along the lines of telling the feathered Nanotyrannus that she was there. If it wasn't for the fact Hindrick took this time to shoot at the bandits, the dinosaur would have run out of cover.
The scientist hit two of the bandits who were too shocked to do anything but stare at the beast. They weren't killing shots, just flesh wounds. He wasn't ready to add murder to his list of things he's done. But it was clear he had some help at the moment and from the look of the beast that was terrifying the men, it was Jay. He'd have to say some kind things to her later.

((sorry short <:U ))
Jay looked over at the returned reply of Hindrick's mount, which made her laugh softly as she ran over, clamboring onto Dune and running him over to Hindrick. She grinned down at the scientist, winking.
"Looks like someone got in trouble again. Come on!" She turned Dune towards the exit of the canyons, waiting for Hindrick to follow.

((That's okay hun. :'D ))
Hindrick stared up at the thief as her dino barreled over to his cover. Fion gave a happy whine and and the scientist pushed her head down just in case the bandits decided to shoot again. "It's not like I started it this time," He grumbled. The bark of a rifle and a bullet whizzing past his face caused the man to hop to action. Doing his best he pulled himself onto Fion's back. The whole process was not trained and you could tell the man wasn't very much up to doing this. Fion on the other hand didn't really seem to mind.
The man followed after the ginger thief, hopping neither of them or their mounts would get shot in their retreat. Though he did hear a roar of anger as they started running towards the canyon exit. "AH WAN THEM ALL DED, YA 'EAR? DED!" Well that was wonderful, he'd managed to make a new friend, and this one wanted to kill him and everything he every loved. Just great.

Jay laughed nervously, whipping the reigns on Dune's snout to urge him on. "Alrighty, I think we need to book it!" She practically yelped, not intending on dying today. God forbid Dune got hurt- then she'd kill them.
She took a rather snipped turn, the giant dino running as fast as his large legs could take them. The girl looked over his shoulder, hoping Hindrick wasnt too far behind. "I know a cave we can hide in!" Maybe at one point she should mention she used to come out here a lot? She was sure the man was probably curious as to how she knew her way around this maze.

"Whatever you think is best!" Hindrick yelled over the gunfire. They were nearly out of range of the remaining bandits. He heard one of the bullets wiz by and pushed Fion into even higher gear. The beast sped up, overtaking Dune. "Where's this cave then?"
If the Doctor had been in a less anxious mental state, he would have been curious about Jay's ability to navigate. But he currently was thanking the stars he still had all his bits and none had bullet holes in them. He followed the thief where ever see went, clearly he trusted her.

Jay didn't bother replying and whipped around another turn, eyes searching for the cave. She used to go there a lot as a kid with Dune when they were both younger. It was kind of...their spot, their little hideout.
And there it was. A grin spread over the thief's face as she led them into the crevice in the wall, sliding down off her mount as he slowed. She waved her hand towards Hindrick, trying to get him in fast. If the bandits weren't as smart as she assumed, they'd pass right by it.

Hindrick followed after, well, more like Fion followed after. The man was useless when it came to riding on a dinosaur, he much rather walk. But this case of course called fro riding. When they approached the crevice he too slipped off his mount. The cave opening was small, but large enough that their mounts could fit. It also had some sort of natural camouflage.
No one would have seen it unless they knew it was there or they were looking for a cave. Once inside he noticed that it was naturally lit. Holes in the cave roof allowed the harsh western sun into the cave. The reddish walls were bendy and not smooth like other caves. it was clear this was made from plate movement and then a natural smoothing agent, like a river.
Once they were all in the man led Fion to the farthest point and moved up to the entrance. If the bandits attempted to enter, they would have to face him. With himself and his dinosaurs settles he looked to Jay. "I have to thank you," he started, " I would have been a lead bag if you hadn't come back."
The sounded of scuffling sounded nearby and Rospev tensed. The scuffling was followed by heavy footfalls as people ran by. "Get yer asses moving! Ah wan 'em found," The large bandit from before bellowed as he ran past. "AH NOW THEY'RE 'ERE!" The rest ran by as well and left them in some silence. Hindrick had leaned heavily against the entrance wall just out of sight. They did not see the cave. That was good. But they would be back. That was bad.
When the footsteps disappeared or turned into a soft echo the scientist looked at the thief again. "I assume you've been here many times before, otherwise we'd probably still be running about in the canyon."

Jay moved Dune back next to Fion, giving him a soft order not to move. Knowing her luck Dune would give them away. She grabbed her knife just in case and stepped quietly next to Hindrick, smiling a little. "No need to thank me. Helping out a friend is all." The thief winked, then crouched down.
Her heart seemed to stop as the bandits rode by, their leaders obnoxious voice loud and rather close. But it didn't last long. Soon their voices were muffled and out of range, and Jay hadnt realized she was holding her breath until she let out a long stream of air.
Her knife slipped back into its small holder on her thigh, the woman standing back up slowly. Her gaze drifted to the scientist at his question, smiling a bit and nodding. "Yeah. I used to come here a lot as a girl. With Dune mostly..." She chuckled softly. "Now my turn- why are you out here?" She gave him a curious, scolding, and teasing look.

Fion gave a happy grumble when Dune was placed next to her. The smaller dinosaur scooted closer to the feathered beast making sure she was right next to him. Alaois at this point poked his head out of the pouch and crawled on top of Fion's head. He looked over to Hindrick and then over to Jay. It was clear they were in some trouble and he knew he was the cause of it. The little microraptor curled up on the Xiongguanlong's head, keeping a watchful eye on Hindrick. If he was still in trouble he was going back in that pouch.
With the bandits gone for the moment Hindrick spoke again. "I still wish to thank you," He eased down the side of the wall and sat on the dusty ground cradling his rifle. A small snorting chuckle fell from his mouth at Jay's question. "I was out hunting. I suppose those bandits followed me from town. They chased me to this Canyon and I was in a bit of a predicament. My incredibly foul-mooded microraptor decided to maul their leader. I shouldn't be surprised though." The man shot a crippling look at Alaois which caused the little beast to crawl down from Fion's head and into the pouch again. The beast poked his head out, watching to make sure he was safe for the moment.
"Any reason in particular that you were out today?"

"Hunting?" She laughed softly, watching as Alois retreated back into the pouch at his owner's look. "Naughty little thing, huh?" She shook her head, pink locks bouncing on her shoulders. "Well, we're safe for now. I suppose that counts for something."
She leaned against the surprisngly cold walls, then smiled over at her mount who was incredibly interested in the lovely dino next to him. He growled happily, nudging Fion playfully. "I was taking him out for a run. He can be lazy, but he likes to run every now and then." she chuckled. "Luckily his run day was today. That or I might be attending your funeral."

"Fionuir is too sweet to hunt for herself, so I usually do it for her," He mumbled and wiped his brow. He snorted as the he looked back at the microraptor. Alaois blinked and ducked his head into the pouch assuming he would be forgotten if he was not seen. "Too smart for his own good, that's what he is."
Hindrick gave one of his half smiles, the ones that looked like a smile, but weren't so bad it'd break a mirror. "That was quick thinking though... I'm rather glad your beast choose today to exercise," Rospev said as he watched the pair of dinosaurs. He knew that look the two were giving and he was too curious to try and separate them. They were both of the same genus, but a different species. The hybrids would be curious.
Fion let a deep rumble out as she nudged back. The dinosaur had to admit, Dune was the sweetest male she had ever met. A bit dim, but terribly sweet. She liked that. Also, her hormones liked that. Wagging her tail in a playful manner she looked up at the larger beast and grumbled gleefully.
